Dany Azar, Alain Waller, André Nel A phantom midge from Lower Cretaceous Lebanese
amber (Diptera, Chaoboridae)
Abstract: Libanoborus lukashevichi nov.gen., nov.sp., the oldest Chaoboridae known from amber, is described from the Lower Cretaceous
amber of Lebanon. Although it has probably a phylogenetic position more inclusive than the clade [(Eucorethrinae +
Chaoborinae) & Genadoborus & Taimyborus], it has only few morphological differences with the Cenozoic to Recent genus
Chaoborus, suggesting a strong morphological stability in this family for the past 130 Myr.
